Ingredients
Scale
Gather up these pantry staples, and let’s get baking:
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tablespoons lemon zest (from about 2 lemons)
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
If you’re out of fresh lemons, bottled lemon juice can work in a pinch, but trust me, nothing beats the zest of a fresh lemon for that extra pop of flavor.
Instructions
Ready to dive in? Follow these steps, and you’ll be on your way to lemony bliss:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease an 8×8 inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
- In a separate bowl, beat the eggs, then add the melted butter, lemon zest, and lemon juice. Mix until well combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread evenly.
- Bake for about 20-25 minutes or until the edges are golden and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer them to a wire rack to cool completely.
A little tip from my kitchen: If you like your brownies extra tangy, drizzle a bit of lemon glaze on top once they’re cool. It’s a family favorite trick of mine!
