Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of your favorite sausage links
- 1/2 cup pure maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons Dijon mustard
- 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar
- 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
If you’re in a pinch, you can swap the Dijon mustard for yellow mustard, but I find the Dijon adds a nice depth of flavor. And if the kids are feeling adventurous, you could even use a touch of spicy sausage for a bit of a kick—it’s all about what works for your family.
Instructions
- Start by heating the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. This is a trick I picked up from my dad—always heat the oil first for the best sear.
- Add the sausage links to the skillet. Cook them for about 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until they’re browned on all sides. They should be cooked through with a lovely golden crust.
- While the sausages are cooking, in a small bowl, mix together the maple syrup, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, garlic powder, and black pepper. This is where the magic happens—the glaze is what ties everything together.
- Once the sausages are done, pour the maple glaze over them. Lower the heat to medium-low and let the sausages simmer in the glaze for about 5-7 minutes. Stir occasionally, making sure the sausages are well-coated and the glaze starts to caramelize.
- Remove from heat and let them rest for a minute or two. This allows the glaze to thicken slightly and makes the bites even more irresistible.
