Ingredients
Scale
Here’s what you’ll need to bring this mouthwatering dish to life:
- 1 pound of flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
- 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
- 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, divided
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves of garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
- 1 teaspoon of black pepper
- Salt to taste
If you’re out of flank steak, skirt steak makes a great substitute. And for a gluten-free twist, tamari can be used in place of soy sauce.
Instructions
Follow these steps to create this delightful dish:
- In a bowl, combine the sliced steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.
- Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until it’s browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
- In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Toss in the onions and bell peppers, sautéing until they are tender yet still crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
- Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
- Return the steak to the skillet and stir in the oyster sauce and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined and heated through.
- Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed. Serve hot, straight from the pan, with a side of steamed rice or your favorite grain.
