Sizzle and Spice: The Ultimate Pepper Steak with Bell Peppers and Onion

Learn how to make delicious Pepper Steak with Bell Peppers and Onion. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

Here’s what you’ll need to bring this mouthwatering dish to life:

  • 1 pound of flank steak, sliced thinly against the grain
  • 2 tablespoons of soy sauce
  • 1 tablespoon of cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons of vegetable oil, divided
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • Salt to taste

If you’re out of flank steak, skirt steak makes a great substitute. And for a gluten-free twist, tamari can be used in place of soy sauce.

Instructions

Follow these steps to create this delightful dish:

  1. In a bowl, combine the sliced steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Let it marinate for about 15 minutes while you prep the other ingredients.
  2. Heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the steak and cook until it’s browned and cooked through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the steak from the skillet and set it aside.
  3. In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Toss in the onions and bell peppers, sautéing until they are tender yet still crisp, about 4-5 minutes.
  4. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently to prevent burning.
  5. Return the steak to the skillet and stir in the oyster sauce and black pepper. Mix everything together until well combined and heated through.
  6. Taste and adjust the seasoning with salt if needed. Serve hot, straight from the pan, with a side of steamed rice or your favorite grain.
