Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, sliced
- 1 green bell pepper, sliced
- 1 red bell pepper, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup shredded provolone cheese
- 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1/2 cup beef broth
- 4 cups cooked pasta (like penne or rigatoni)
If you’re out of something, don’t stress. Swap the provolone for cheddar or the ground beef for chicken. It’s all about what you’ve got on hand.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F. This is the secret to getting everything melty and delicious.
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the onions and peppers. My dad always said the secret to a good meal is in the sizzle, so listen for it!
- Cook until the onions are translucent and the peppers are soft, about 5-7 minutes. Stir in the garlic and cook for another minute.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it up with a spatula. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes. Drain any excess fat.
- Mix in the Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Let it cook together for another 2 minutes to meld the flavors.
- Stir in the cream cheese until everything is well combined. This step always reminds me of making my mom’s secret cheese sauce.
- In a large bowl, combine the cooked pasta, beef mixture, beef broth, and half of the shredded cheeses. Pour into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
- Top with the remaining cheeses. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
