Gathering your ingredients is the first step to waffle bliss. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 2 large eggs
- 1 3/4 cups buttermilk
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions
Ready to dive in? Here’s how you can whip up these Red Velvet Marble Waffles:
- Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- In another bowl, beat the eggs and then whisk in the buttermilk, melted butter, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid overmixing; lumps are okay!
- Divide the batter into two bowls. In one bowl, add the cocoa powder and red food coloring, stirring gently until well integrated.
- For each waffle, pour a small amount of the plain batter into the waffle iron, then add a swirl of the red velvet batter on top. Use a spoon or a toothpick to create a marbled effect.
- Close the waffle iron and cook until the waffles are golden brown and crisp, about 3-5 minutes, depending on your waffle iron.
- Repeat with the remaining batter, serving each waffle hot off the press.
Don’t worry if the first waffle isn’t perfect. It’s a rite of passage in my kitchen!
