Ingredients
Scale
- 1 sleeve Ritz crackers (about 30 crackers)
- 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
- 1/4 cup chopped chives
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 4 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
- Optional: 1 tablespoon of your favorite hot sauce
Feel free to switch up the cheese with whatever you have on hand. Gouda or Monterey Jack make excellent alternatives. And if you’re out of bacon, a sprinkle of smoked paprika can add that smoky depth without the meat.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Arrange the Ritz crackers on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. This ensures easy cleanup, which is always a win in my book!
- In a medium bowl, mix together the cream cheese, shredded cheddar, chives, garlic powder, paprika, and black pepper until well combined.
- Spread about a teaspoon of the cheese mixture onto each cracker. Don’t worry about making them perfect—imperfection is the charm of homemade snacks.
- Top each with a sprinkle of crumbled bacon. If you’re a fan of a bit of heat, now’s the time to add a dash of hot sauce on top.
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. They’ll disappear quickly, so savor the moment!
The aroma of these snacks baking is bound to bring your family into the kitchen, just like how the smell of my dad’s lentils would draw me in for a sneak taste.
