Ingredients
Scale
Gathering ingredients should be as stress-free as a Sunday morning stroll through the farmer’s market. Here’s what you’ll need:
- 2 large chicken breasts, sliced into strips
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 tablespoon butter
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 pound fettuccine pasta
- Chopped parsley for garnish
Substitution tip: If you’re out of Cajun seasoning, a mix of paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne, and oregano will do the trick.
Instructions
Let’s turn those ingredients into a delicious masterpiece:
- Start by cooking the fettuccine according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Toss the chicken strips with Cajun seasoning, ensuring they’re well-coated.
- Add the chicken to the skillet, cooking for about 5-7 minutes until browned and cooked through. Remove the chicken from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, add butter and minced garlic, sautéing for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine with the garlic butter. Bring to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
- Stir in the Parmesan cheese, salt, and pepper, allowing the cheese to melt and thicken the sauce, about 3-4 minutes.
- Return the cooked chicken to the skillet, tossing it in the creamy sauce.
- Add the cooked fettuccine to the skillet, gently mixing until the pasta is fully coated in the sauce.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Personal tip: If you want to kick up the heat a notch, sprinkle a bit of extra cayenne pepper when serving.
