Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon ginger, grated
- 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons gochujang (Korean chili paste)
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
- 1 teaspoon sesame seeds
- Salt and pepper to taste
If you’re in a pinch, you can substitute ground turkey for beef, or use sriracha if you can’t find gochujang. Remember, home cooking isn’t about perfection—it’s about making it work with what you have.
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, garlic, ginger, green onions, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
- Form the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes or until they are browned and cooked through.
- While the meatballs are baking, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine soy sauce, gochujang, sesame oil, honey, and rice vinegar. Cook over medium heat until the sauce thickens, about 5 minutes.
- Once the meatballs are done, toss them in the sauce until they are well coated.
- Sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
These steps are inspired by countless evenings spent tinkering in the kitchen, experimenting with flavors that bring warmth and joy to a meal. Remember, the key is to enjoy the process as much as the result.
