Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pound of rotini pasta
- 1 pound of steak, cut into bite-sized pieces
- 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Optional: Chopped parsley for garnish
Feel free to substitute the heavy cream with half-and-half for a lighter version or use chicken instead of steak if that’s what you have on hand. Remember, cooking at home is all about making do with what’s in your pantry!
Instructions
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the rotini and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium-high heat. Season the steak bites with Cajun seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook the steak bites in the skillet for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned and cooked to your liking. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
- In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium and add the butter. Once melted, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1 minute until fragrant.
- Pour in the heavy cream, stirring to combine. Let it simmer for about 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
- Stir in the grated Parmesan cheese, continuing to stir until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Add the cooked rotini to the skillet, tossing it in the sauce until well coated. If the sauce is too thick, add a splash of pasta water to loosen it up.
- Finally, return the steak bites to the skillet. Toss everything together gently to combine, letting the steak reheat slightly in the sauce.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped parsley if desired.
