Sweet & Smoky Pineapple Brown Sugar: A Tropical Twist on Flavor Fusion

Learn how to make delicious Sweet & Smoky Pineapple Brown Sugar. Easy recipe with step-by-step instructions.

  • Total Time: 45 minutes
  • Yield: 4 servings 1x

Ingredients

Scale

  • 1 can (20 oz) of pineapple chunks, drained
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro (optional, for garnish)

If you don’t have smoked paprika on hand, regular paprika with a dash of liquid smoke works wonders. And if cilantro isn’t your thing, fresh parsley is a great substitute.

Instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
  2. Add the drained pineapple chunks to the skillet and cook, stirring occasionally, until they begin to caramelize, about 5-7 minutes.
  3. Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the pineapple and stir to combine. Cook until the sugar has dissolved and started to thicken slightly, about 3 minutes.
  4. Stir in the smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, and soy sauce. Let everything simmer together for another 2 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
  5. Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the fresh lime juice. This adds a burst of freshness to balance the sweet and smoky flavors.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with chopped cilantro if desired. Serve warm and enjoy!

Remember, just like my dad always said, cooking is about feeling your way through a recipe with your senses. Keep a watchful eye and taste as you go.
