Ingredients
Scale
Here’s the list of ingredients that come together to create this delightful dish. Don’t worry—I’ve included some substitutions in case you’re missing something:
- 8 ounces of your favorite noodles (spaghetti, linguine, or rice noodles work great)
- 3 tablespoons soy sauce
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil
- 1 teaspoon grated ginger (optional, but adds a lovely depth)
- 1/4 cup chopped green onions
- 1/4 cup sliced bell peppers (optional for a pop of color)
- Sesame seeds for garnish
- A pinch of red pepper flakes (for those who like a little heat)
Instructions
- Start by cooking your noodles according to the package instructions until they are just shy of al dente. Drain them and set aside, saving a bit of the pasta water.
- In a small bowl, mix together the soy sauce and brown sugar until the sugar dissolves. Set this sauce aside.
- Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and ginger, cooking until fragrant, about 1 minute. Be careful not to let the garlic burn.
- Add the cooked noodles to the skillet, along with the soy sauce mixture. Toss to coat the noodles thoroughly.
- Drizzle the sesame oil over the noodles, add the green onions and bell peppers, and toss everything together over the heat for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
- If the noodles seem dry, add a splash of the reserved pasta water to loosen them up.
- Transfer the noodles to a serving dish, sprinkle with sesame seeds and red pepper flakes if using, and serve hot.
