Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup rolled oats
- 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based, your choice)
- 1/2 cup Greek yogurt
- 1 tablespoon chia seeds (optional for extra fiber)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 tablespoons honey or maple syrup
- 1 cup mixed berries (fresh or frozen)
- A pinch of salt
Instructions
- In a medium-sized bowl, combine the rolled oats, milk, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, and vanilla extract. Stir well to ensure the chia seeds don’t clump together.
- Add the honey or maple syrup to the mixture, adjusting the sweetness to your preference. This reminds me of my mom’s ability to adjust seasoning purely by instinct—something I’ve slowly learned over time.
- Gently fold in the berries, ensuring they are evenly distributed throughout the mixture. I find that using a mix of berries not only adds a pop of color but also a burst of flavor with every bite.
- Add a pinch of salt to balance out the sweetness and enhance the flavors, just like my dad would always say, “A pinch of salt makes all the difference.”
- Transfer the mixture into individual jars or an airtight container and refrigerate overnight or for at least 4 hours.
- In the morning, give the oats a good stir, and enjoy as is, or with your choice of toppings such as nuts, additional fruits, or a dusting of cinnamon.
